Policy: Contributors

OveractDev does not rent people to our clients. Clients engage OveractDev as a company to fulfill whatever requirements they have for us. We reserve the right at all times, to engage whichever internal resources we feel will best complete the requirements. Internally, we work as a team.

I tell clients that they are free to assign tasks/bugs/tickets, etc., to whichever OTP team member they like. But, that does NOT necessarily mean that the named person will complete the task, or that they will complete every part of it by themselves.

One of our client-facing roles is the Engineering Lead. This is the person the client should look at to determine if we have the necessary skill set to fulfill the requested work. If the client is satisfied that the Engineering Lead has the appropriate skill set, it is then up to the Lead to determine how much work his team can commit to.

Also, we do not want our clients interviewing each member of the team. This sends the wrong message. It is up to the Lead to select members for the team and to determine how much work his team can commit to.

This is our policy. We will generally refuse an assignment for a client that is not willing to work with us in this way. Any exceptions should be approved by the President before we agree to a client request for an exception.

Hiring:

In line with this policy, the following hiring policy is also in effect: we hire Contributors BEFORE allowing the client to interview them or even review their resume. It is up to us to hire people that are first, right for OveractDev and, second, right for the client. Also, we generally do not hire Contributors for a single project. In other words, we need to be able to justify a hiring decision based on our long term need for that Contributor.
